Johnny Was is an American clothing brand founded in 1987 that features unique bohemian-inspired clothing styles for women. Johnny Was does not provide information on their sourcing policy or practices. Their clothes are manufactured domestically in the US as well as overseas in China and India.
I love Johnny Was clothing but won’t continue to support or recommend their products if they charge those high prices and abuse workers. I want to know about their ethics
Love their style and beautiful embroidery. Agree I don’t want to support if they aren’t transparent about who these workers are and where. Manufactured in US can mean ALOT of different things! At these prices, it should all be above board, not disclosing information is suspicious. Just be open and let your customers know the real deal.
I love johnny was but don’t have any pieces I have been very close to buying a particular dress and kaftan but now In the current corona situ. I will never buy anything made in China again, ✂️
I’m so sad to see this. I love their clothes but I won’t by any more now. If they won’t disclose information on their sourcing policies or practices I can’t continue to support this brand.
They are expensive and I hate to think they are made in a Chinese sweatshop so they can make a bigger profit.
disappointed and will never order again..ordered 2 items and only one sent..Five phone calls and four emails and not a word about the missing and paid for item..I still get daily emails selling their products..Being made in China is now another reason to never order again.
Poor customer service
I’ve loved JW for years and I never minded paying top dollar for them. Always quality good clothes and accessories -I thought they were manufactured in CA. But after reading this I will not ever be buying another piece. I’m a USA buyer here from now on. #supportUSA#buyUSA
They really need to do something about their customer service. I ordered two pieces from them almost two weeks ago….received immediate acknowledgement…but now still waiting to find out if order has shipped. Called and e-mailed them; no response. I did call the ‘place an order’ number and got a live person but she said she couldn’t look up my order for privacy reasons. That’s crazy – it’s the same number and the same company. But I keep getting daily marketing e-mails though!!! That’s just unethical business practice. Take the money and run. I know we are in the age of Coronavirus, but I’ve ordered from other companies and had much better service. JW prices are very high, quality is not as good as previous years and who knows where the stuff is made. Somebody (Endeavour) is making big profits here.
After buying Johnny Was cloth masks recently, I was shocked to see Made in China on the packages. I sent them an email asking about their manufacturing, have not received a reply as of yet. I value transparency on where items are produced and will not be buying from companies that manufacture in China. We need to bring back “Made in U.S.A.” on labels. Ethics over profits.
Just purchased 5 silk masks for 40.00 thinking they were ‘handmade’ in the US. When they arrived, the individual bags they were in, to my shock, said “Made in CHINA”. Very upset and NEVER would have ordered them knowing they were made in China- especially in the face of COVID. Of course they are non-returnable.
Opened my Johnny Was mask and inspected it to see that it was made in China…… Seriously?! During our stay at home you couldn’t localize your employees in the United States to make these?! Shame on you. So disgusted that you’re CEO made such a poor decision.
Please provide transparency on your ethical practices regarding worker exploration. I love the style but can’t support your line without that information.
I love their clothes and have several pieces. But I will no longer shop their items until they disclose practices and establish fair trade and living wage practices used.
I love Johnny was I get many compliments on their clothes. The fabrics are comfortable and I love the quality and bright colors. There gym clothes are nice.
